PS5 Price in Pakistan: How Much Will the PlayStation 5 Cost?

ps5

A new PS5 in Pakistan is somewhere around 150K to 180K. With the increasing rates of dollar verses PKR there is no saying what will happen to the escalating prices of gaming equipment and especially PS5. Pakistani gamers are already feeling the economic pinch and it is only going to get worse. The game industry is a ruthless one and with new technologies emerging, the prices of older hardware plummet, making it hard for anyone on a budget to keep up.

The release of the PS Vita in 2012 was Sony’s last big handheld console. It was also their most expensive one at $250. That’s about Rs 38,000 today but when it launched, the dollar rate was around Rs 90. So, a PS Vita cost Pakistani gamers about Rs 23,000 which wasn’t too bad considering its features and games library. However, just two years later, Sony released the PS TV which allowed gamers to play Vita games on their TV. The price? Just $99 or Rs 15,000. It was a tough pill to swallow for Vita owners who had only bought their console a couple of years prior.

The same thing is happening with the PSVR. It’s only been out for a year and a half but it’s already being discounted heavily. The PSVR will probably be irrelevant by the time the PSVR II comes out which could be as soon as next year. So, if you’re looking to buy a PSVR, do it now while it’s still relatively cheap. The same can’t be said for the PS Move controllers which are becoming increasingly hard to find and are fetching high prices on eBay.

If you want to get your hands on a PS+ subscription, you better act fast because Sony is discontinuing physical copies of the cards. From March 2019 onwards, you’ll only be able to purchase a PS+ subscription online. This is probably because Sony wants to push gamers towards their digital ecosystem and away from physical copies of games. Given that Pakistan has a very low internet penetration rate, this could be problematic for some gamers.

So, if you’re looking to buy a PS Vita or PSVR, now is the time to do it. And if you want to get your hands on a PS+ subscription, you better act fast. Otherwise, you might find yourself at a disadvantage when the next generation of consoles comes out.
