Netflix Scores Big with FIFA World Cup Game for Subscribers

Exciting news for football fans and gamers alike! Netflix has just revealed its plans to launch an officially licensed FIFA Men’s World Cup 2026 game called FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition. Starting from June 11, all Netflix subscribers will be able to dive into the action on their TVs, computers, or phones, with the game offering real-time updates that reflect the actual tournament happenings.

This game is being touted as a “streamlined” soccer experience, and it’s designed to be played using your smartphone as a controller. Simply swipe your finger to pass or shoot the ball, making it super accessible for everyone. The game will feature all 48 teams competing in this year’s World Cup, along with 16 authentic stadiums and a whopping 1,248 real-life players to choose from!

A spokesperson from Netflix shared that the game will enjoy daily updates, introducing new challenges and features as the tournament progresses in real life. The best part? It’s completely free for Netflix subscribers and, like all their games, it won’t feature any microtransactions.

Netflix has exciting promotional plans, including a takeover ad that will reach all members. And if that wasn’t enough, they’ve also announced that the game will be updated in 2027 to include the Women’s World Cup, further extending their commitment to sports and gaming.

Right now, a limited test version of FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition is being rolled out in Brazil, but mark your calendars for June 11 when everyone can join in—just in time for the kickoff of the first World Cup game!

For years, EA Sports had the exclusive rights to World Cup games, offering special editions and events. However, following their split with FIFA, the latest installment, EA Sports FC 26, has shifted to a promotion called “The World’s Game,” which means no official FIFA branding this time around.

In addition to this major sports offering, Netflix is already home to a variety of games like Red Dead Redemption, Farming Simulator 2023, and Sonic Mania Plus, among others. Although they faced some bumps in the road initially, Netflix is clearly committed to expanding its footprint in the gaming industry, viewing it as a key area for future growth.
