Steam Store Gets a Makeover: Is It a Hit or Just Hot Garbage?
After a few months of testing, Steam has finally unleashed its latest store design for all users to check out. This fresh look comes with some exciting new features, including a personalized release calendar and revamped listings for popular upcoming games. Plus, games now flaunt their art in higher resolutions, making the overall experience visually appealing.
As is often the case when software rolls out a new design, reactions are mixed. Many gamers are expressing their dissatisfaction, with some users describing the update as “hot garbage.” One commenter even went as far as to call it “revolting” and stated they might ditch Steam altogether. Ouch! On the flip side, there are plenty of players who are quite pleased with the changes. Personally, I think it’s not too shabby!
Interestingly, my reaction to Steam updates is often much more chill compared to my rants about other software. Take Photoshop, for instance—I find myself grumbling about its quirks daily! If I could, I’d love to give a piece of my mind to those pesky AI buttons that keep popping up. But when it comes to Steam, I generally don’t have much to complain about.
Of course, my buddies don’t fully share my carefree vibe. For example, Wes Fenlon voiced his frustrations back in 2024 when Valve decided to relocate the ‘open screenshot’ button. Talk about first-world problems, right?
Sure, I could jot down a list of things that irk me about Steam’s design—new or old—but honestly, compared to some of the other software I deal with on a daily basis, Steam shines brightly!
