Apple and Intel Team Up? Trump Sparks Buzz with Bold Claims
There’s some exciting chatter in the tech world thanks to President Trump! He’s recently claimed that Apple is ready to collaborate with Intel to create chips right here in the United States. This isn’t exactly a new idea, but it’s certainly stirred up some interest.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “First, we helped bring in Nvidia, and they agreed to build their first-level Chips with Intel. Next, Elon Musk is diving into chip manufacturing with his TerraFab, the biggest Chip Factory globally, designed in partnership with Intel’s tech team. And lastly, Apple is on board to design and produce its chips with Intel in America.”
However, it’s essential to note that there hasn’t been any official word from Apple or Intel about this partnership just yet. While Nvidia has made some announcements regarding their collaboration with Intel—mainly focusing on pairing Intel CPUs with Nvidia GPUs—the specifics on how these chips will be produced remain a bit vague. And let’s not forget, there’s still no confirmation about Apple’s potential chip-making plans with Intel.
Rumors have been swirling for a while that Apple might tap Intel’s facilities for manufacturing certain types of chips. Some speculation suggests that Apple could opt for Intel to handle production of more affordable chips for everyday iPhone and MacBook models, while the high-end versions could continue to be crafted by TSMC.
Should any deal come through, it would undoubtedly be a big win for Intel, especially as they are building their customer fab business. Following Trump’s announcement, Intel’s stock saw a significant jump of 7%, showing the market’s interest in the potential collaboration.
Trump also highlighted Intel’s stock surge, stating, “We decided to help Intel in exchange for 10% of their shares. Is that too much or too little? When we made our offer, they were valued at around 100 billion dollars. Now, they’re over 600 billion! That’s an increase of over half a trillion dollars in just nine months. America’s share is now worth over 60 billion. When was the last time a President made America money?”
As it stands, it’s uncertain whether there’s a formal agreement between Intel and Apple. Even if there is, it could take years before we see any chips rolling out from Intel’s factories. Any potential deal might also depend on the performance of Intel’s new manufacturing processes, the 18A and 14A nodes. If those don’t meet Apple’s expectations, there could be an exit clause for Apple.
So, while things are heating up in the chip-making arena, it’s still a wait-and-see game. Keep an eye out for updates, because this partnership could change the landscape of tech as we know it!
