Nvidia has finally shed light on the developer controls for DLSS 5, which many of us were curious about after the initial demos and discussions. They've announced two main sliders for developers: one for 'structural intensity' to modulate high-frequency details like ambient occlusion, and another for 'tone intensity' to adjust lighting and the overall feel. This is their stated approach to give creators more say over the "AI filter" aspect and ensure artistic intent isn't lost in the upscaling process. While only two sliders might feel a bit minimal right now, especially considering the initial concerns, it's a crucial step towards giving developers some agency over the effect. I'm hopeful this framework evolves with more precise tools and options down the line, but it ultimately depends on how flexibly developers can leverage these current controls to genuinely refine image quality.
