Dbrand’s Companion Cube Case Dreams Dashed
0
I can't believe what just went down with Dbrand and their Portal Companion Cube case for the Steam Machine! They had spent over a thousand hours creating this amazing product that had so much hype behind it, only to have Valve shut it down because they didn’t ask for permission first. It's such a shame because this was a perfect mashup of gaming culture and hardware design, and the fact that they had people lining up to sign up means there was real interest. I get that Valve has every right to protect their IP, but it sucks to watch such a promising project go up in smoke due to a simple oversight. What do you all think? Should Dbrand have taken the time to secure licenses upfront, or does Valve need to be more open with fan-driven projects?
