Guys, I just heard some insane news: IO Interactive, the legends behind Hitman, just had their funding cut for their big online fantasy RPG, Project Fantasy. Apparently, Microsoft was the "external partner" who pulled the plug, citing some "fresh look" at investments, right before their own expected Xbox bloodbath. This is a massive blow, and it unfortunately means layoffs are coming for the talented people at IOI who've been working on this for years. Honestly, this is becoming a pattern with Microsoft; they acquire or partner, then randomly axe projects and studios, leaving everyone in the lurch. It's incredibly frustrating to see promising games die like this because of corporate decisions, and despite IOI saying they're committed, I have zero hope we'll actually see Project Fantasy anytime soon.
