Can We Stop Saying All Games on UE5 Look the Same Yet? 🎮

Post by SADAF234 »

Hey all,
I’ve been noticing a trend lately where people keep saying that all games made with Unreal Engine 5 (UE5) look the same or have a similar visual identity. While I get that UE5 offers some stunning tools and features, I don’t think it’s fair to say that all games end up looking identical.

Here’s my take:

Good Art Direction is Key: It doesn’t matter which engine is used – good art direction is what really sets a game apart. Whether a game is made with UE5, Unity, or any other engine, a strong vision and unique style can make it stand out.

Engine Doesn’t Dictate Style: Just because UE5 has incredible graphics doesn’t mean every game using it will look the same. It’s the developer’s creative direction that defines the visuals, not the engine.

Some Developers Are Missing the Mark: Yes, some games may look too similar because the developers didn’t have a clear, unique vision. But that’s a design choice, not an inherent limitation of UE5.

I think it’s time we start giving UE5 the credit it deserves for enabling developers to create diverse and visually stunning experiences. Instead of focusing on the engine, we should be praising the variety of art and design choices that come with it.

What do you all think? Are we being too harsh on UE5 games, or do you think there's some truth to the idea that they all look the same?

Let’s discuss!
