Arrowhead Game Studios Takes a Stand Against Helldivers 2 Cheaters
Arrowhead Game Studios is stepping up its game against cheaters in Helldivers 2, targeting those who exploit the system to hoard Super Credits. However, not everyone in the community is celebrating this move. In a recent message shared on Discord, the developers acknowledged the frustrations voiced by players about the unfairness of cheating: “You’ve told us that cheaters and exploiters ruin the experience, making it seem unjust when someone games the Super Credit system while you grind hard for yours.”
To tackle these issues, Arrowhead is rolling out enhanced monitoring methods to detect suspicious Super Credit activity. The new tools will flag players who extract with “substantially higher” Super Credits than the top earners in the game, aiming to catch cheaters before they can disrupt the in-game economy. Arrowhead reassured honest players that these changes are designed to target the bad apples, saying, “If you’re grinding maps, clearing POIs, or looting bunkers, you won’t notice any changes.”
The studio’s efforts are specifically aimed at those using bots or automation to farm Super Credits at an unrealistic pace—faster than any legitimate player could ever manage. Arrowhead expressed that this new system intends to “stop them at the source,” ensuring that the economy remains balanced for those playing fairly. “This is a win for the community. A healthier economy means the Super Credits you earn through honest gameplay are worth it,” the announcement concluded.
Despite Arrowhead’s intentions, some players aren’t convinced. Critics argue that the developers framing this as a community victory overlooks the fact that Helldivers 2 isn’t an MMO or a competitive game—it has no player-driven economy. Many feel that Arrowhead is more interested in protecting their profits than in genuinely improving the game experience. A player pointed out, “Nothing but corporate jargon. They’d rather ban cheaters than address why people exploit in the first place; grinding for Super Credits is a pain.”
Another player echoed this sentiment, suggesting that while preventing cheating was necessary, better solutions could have been offered, such as increasing Super Credit rewards on higher difficulty levels instead of presenting this as a major community-driven update.
While Arrowhead has every right to safeguard its interests, the lack of focus on the root causes of cheating—like the grind for Super Credits—has left some in the community feeling frustrated. On a brighter note, Helldivers 2 is set to receive a substantial update that will overhaul Major Orders, introduce Galactic Campaigns, add a new biome, enhance Exo Suits, and much more, promising an exciting future for players.
