It looks like those of us who were excited about the customizable faceplates of the Steam Machine are going to have to roll up our sleeves and get creative. Valve has confirmed they don't have plans for any new faceplates, which is a bummer because I was really looking forward to some unique designs. On the upside, they are releasing CAD files to help us make our own, which is pretty cool for the DIY crowd. I’m not the best at 3D modeling, but I love the idea of personalizing my gaming setup. I might try to make a fun Decoden style faceplate or something else quirky. It's a bit disappointing that we can't just buy new designs, but I guess this opens up a whole new world for creativity!
