So, the news is out: Sony's going all-digital for new PlayStation games from January 2028 onwards, effectively ending physical disc releases. This is peak irony coming from the same company that just announced shutting down PS3/Vita digital stores and deleted purchased movies without a refund, making everyone question what "owning" a digital game truly means. Even Hideo Kojima subtly resurfaced his old tweets basically saying 'I told you so' about the perils of digital-only access getting cut off eventually. Forget the joy of finding a cheap second-hand gem; soon we'll just be renting our entire libraries, praying the servers stay up and our 'licenses' don't mysteriously disappear. Looks like my PS5 disc drive will be a collector's item sooner than I thought!
