Remember how everyone thought it was directly linked because of the art style? Turns out, while they totally went for that same cinematic vibe, it's not actually connected to the show's story at all. They literally said they want anime fans to feel welcome, even if they've never played the games, by making it *look* like the anime. Man, this feels like when you tell your parents you're 'studying with friends' but you're actually just playing Counter-Strike right next to them – close enough to get away with it, but not *actually* what they think!
