Apparently, the showrunner has openly admitted to making some pretty big changes to Anne Rice’s original story, especially concerning Lestat's past with his first love, Nikki, in the latest episode. They apparently re-engineered some key events and squeezed things in differently to fit the show's pacing and make Nikki's impact on Lestat more haunting. While I get that adaptations need to take creative liberties, hearing a showrunner openly say it might be 'disappointing' for book fans does make me raise an eyebrow.
