Nintendo’s Exclusives Rule Amazon’s Gaming Charts

The debate about the Nintendo Switch 2 has been heating up lately, particularly when it comes to whether it has a solid library of games that justifies the upgrade. While competitors like Xbox and PlayStation are embracing multi-platform releases and even teasing hybrid options with PCs, Nintendo sticks to its guns, delivering exclusive titles for its own consoles. Now that we’re nearly a year into the Switch 2’s life, it turns out the top three best-selling physical games on Amazon are all exclusive to Nintendo. So, are players just eager to snatch up any game that hits the console, or are these titles actual heavyweights for the gaming titan? It seems like a mix of both!

When you check out Amazon’s best-selling video games list, it’s quite an eclectic mix. You’ll see everything from Roblox gift cards and controllers to the Switch 2 console itself. However, when it comes to the top actual games, they’re sitting pretty at ranks #5, #6, and #18 as of now.

First up is the highly-anticipated Star Fox. This recently announced Switch 2 exclusive is generating quite a buzz. The remake of Star Fox 64 promises a significant graphical upgrade alongside fresh character designs, all while retaining the classic level design fans know and love. Plus, it’s bringing some quirky camera features that utilize the new console’s capabilities!

Next on the list is Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. Interestingly, this is the only game here that isn’t a Switch 2 exclusive, but it’s available now! Released earlier this year, it’s been praised for its humor and engaging gameplay, likened to a personal civilization simulator. Even though Nintendo didn’t add online sharing features, the game has taken social media by storm, with players sharing hilarious screenshots of their bizarre Miis adventures.

Rounding out the top three is Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, another game that’s currently up for preorder. This will mark Yoshi’s first adventure since 2019’s Yoshi’s Crafted World. While it’s aimed at younger gamers, it’s not stopping it from climbing the charts! Interestingly, the trend indicates that most game purchases are now digital. Although the Nintendo eShop doesn’t have a best-sellers list, titles like Pokémon Pokopia and the remakes of FireRed and LeafGreen are buzzing alongside the Switch 2’s launch title, Mario Kart World.

The Switch 2 isn’t just about exclusives though; it’s also welcoming non-Nintendo AAA games like Resident Evil: Requiem and Pragmata right at launch. Exciting exclusives are on the way too, including a new title from Fromsoftware, The Duskbloods, while fans are eagerly awaiting news about iconic characters like Mario and Zelda. As for the current lineup, it’s up to you to decide how the Switch 2’s library stands.

On another note, Nintendo has recently announced a price hike for the Switch 2 that’ll kick in this September. This means that by 2026, every current-generation console will cost more than when they first launched. This unfortunate trend is tied to memory shortages and tariffs, and it seems the price bump comes after investor pressure and soft sales during the holiday season.

Along with this announcement, Nintendo shared an apology and mentioned a new “choose your own game” bundle for the Switch 2, set to launch this summer. The company is well aware that the console’s success hinges on its game library, with Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa emphasizing that providing an engaging experience is key to maintaining value beyond just the price tag.
