Rock and Stone (and Smart Moves)! Your Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core Survival Guide!

Alright, miners! The wait is finally over for fans of epic co-op shooting action! Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core has dropped into Early Access, bringing back the intense dwarf-on-alien combat we all love, but with a fresh, tougher spin. If you thought you knew your way around the caves from the original Deep Rock Galactic, get ready for a new challenge. This sequel ramps up the difficulty and introduces some neat twists to keep things exciting.

Whether you’re a seasoned veteran who’s spent countless hours digging for minerals or a greenhorn just strapping on your first drill, Rogue Core can be a beast in the early hours. But don’t you worry, fellow Pakistani gamers! We’ve got your back with some essential tips and tricks to help you not just survive, but thrive, as you delve into the alien-infested depths. Let’s get you ready for those countless runs!

Go With The Guardian Class First

First things first: picking your starting class. In the current Early Access build of Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, you’ve got five different classes to choose from, each with its own unique flair. However, for those initial expeditions, we highly recommend sticking with the Guardian class. This chunky dwarf is a proper tank, built to take a beating. Their awesome Area of Effect (AoE) ability and armor-restoring skills make them perfect for learning the ropes, staying alive longer, and supporting your squad. Once you’ve got a good feel for the game with the Guardian, you can then branch out to classes that demand a bit more finesse.

Never Pass Up A Chance To Upgrade

Rogue Core introduces a cool new feature: mid-run character upgrades! It might seem obvious to hit up a Workbench or grab some shiny Expenite, but when you’re battling hordes and the clock is ticking, it’s easy to forget. Our advice? Always prioritize those upgrades! Try to handle your upgrade business *before* engaging with a new wave of enemies. Even deep into a run, keep an eye out for Expenite and hunt down those Workbenches and Toolboxes. Trust us, those late-game upgrades can literally be the difference between a successful mission and a total wipeout when the enemies start hitting like a freight train.

Value Your Ammunition

Your weapon loadout is super critical in Rogue Core, and ideally, you want a versatile arsenal. But even the best guns are useless without ammo! While Ammo Crates are scattered across the maps, you can only use a limited number per run. To make the most out of every crate, resist the urge to top up after every skirmish. Wait until your weapons are almost completely dry before interacting with a crate. This way, you’ll fully replenish both your primary and secondary ammo stocks, getting maximum value. Of course, if you’re critically low on health or absolutely desperate for a specific weapon’s ammo in a tight spot, then go for it – but generally, conserve those precious reloads!

Target Enemy Weak Spots

You’ll quickly notice that the aliens in Rogue Core hit hard – really hard! This makes solo play a serious grind and adds a whole new layer of tactical thinking to co-op. While you can’t make them hit softer, you *can* make them die faster by aiming for their weak spots. Keep an eye out for weapons that specifically boost weak spot damage; these should be high on your priority list when looting. Just blindly blasting away will drain your ammo and health much quicker, leading to more unfortunate respawns.

Don’t Skip The Side Content

When you start a run, your main goal is to push as far as possible. But don’t ignore the side objectives, known as “Intel Tasks”! These aren’t mandatory, but completing as many as you can is a game-changer. They reward you with valuable upgrade points that boost your overall level, unlocking new missions, additional tasks, and a whole lot more content. Think of them as bonus XP quests that make your main grind much more rewarding in the long run.

You Don’t Always Have To Carry Toolboxes

Toolboxes are key to upgrading your character and weapons mid-run. You find a Workbench, use its locator to pinpoint a Toolbox somewhere on the map, then you have to lug it back. Usually, this means carrying it with one hand, severely limiting your mobility and combat options. But here’s a pro-tip: you don’t always have to be burdened! If you’re playing solo, you can simply hand the Toolbox off to Cooper, your trusty robot companion. In a team, you can throw the Toolbox by pressing your fire button while holding it. This lets you move faster or clear out enemies without dropping your precious upgrade cargo.

Use Different Kinds Of Weapons

You get two weapon slots in your loadout, and while you start with nothing, you’ll quickly find new firearms. The smart play here is to equip two weapons that complement each other, offering different functionalities. For example, if you snag an awesome long-range rifle early on, your next weapon should ideally be something that excels at close-quarters combat, or perhaps deals a specific type of elemental damage. Having a diverse set of tools allows you to adapt to any situation and take down different enemy types efficiently, making you a much more versatile miner.

Abilities Are Always Reliable

Your weapons will be your bread and butter for dispatching alien threats, but seriously, don’t forget about your class abilities! It’s easy to tunnel-vision on shooting when you’re swarmed, but those special moves are often your best bet for dishing out massive damage or making a quick escape from a hairy situation. Remember, abilities have cooldowns, so timing is everything. As you spend more time with your chosen class, you’ll develop an instinct for when to unleash your powers for maximum impact. Use them wisely, and they’ll save your dwarf butt more times than you can count!

Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core is shaping up to be another fantastic co-op experience, and with these tips, you’re well on your way to becoming a mining legend. Get out there, explore those dangerous caves, and remember: Rock and Stone!
