John Carmack, the co-founder of the legendary id Software, has voiced his feelings regarding the recent significant layoffs at the studio, which is now under Microsoft’s ownership. Despite his obvious sadness over the layoffs, Carmack refrained from directly criticizing Microsoft’s decision. He commented, “I’m saddened, but I can’t muster anger or outrage over it.” From his perspective, he believes that id Software may not have been a lucrative investment for Microsoft, noting that reports suggest that Minecraft’s revenue has been funneled to support other less successful studios within the Xbox umbrella for years.
