    Plug in a controller and press any button to wake it up. Everything you press lights up on the diagram below, with the exact values your browser is reading underneath. It is the quickest way to find a button that has stopped responding, a trigger that no longer travels all the way, or a stick that will not sit still.

    How to use it

    1. Connect your controller by USB cable or pair it over Bluetooth.
    2. Press any button on the controller. Browsers deliberately hide gamepads until you do — this is a privacy feature, not a fault.
    3. Your controller appears below. Work through every button, both sticks and both triggers.
    4. Watch the readouts: a button that never lights up, a trigger that stops short of 100%, or a stick that does not return to 0.0 is the one to look at.

    How the numbers are worked out

    Everything here runs on your own machine using the browser Gamepad API. Nothing is uploaded, recorded or sent to us.

    Common questions

    My controller is connected but nothing shows up.

    Press a button on the controller. Browsers will not report a gamepad until it sends input, so a freshly connected pad stays invisible until you touch it. If it still does not appear, try a different USB port or cable — some cables are charge-only and carry no data.

    Which browsers work?

    Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave and Firefox all support the Gamepad API on desktop. Safari supports it too. The page needs a secure (https) connection, which this one is.

    Does this work on a phone?

    It works on Android with a controller paired over Bluetooth. It cannot test the phone itself — there is no gamepad to read.

    Do the button names match what is printed on my controller?

    Not exactly, and on purpose. Different makers print different symbols on the same physical button, so this tool names buttons by position and function instead — face button (bottom), left trigger, and so on. What matters is that the right one lights up when you press it.

    Is my data stored anywhere?

    No. The test runs entirely in your browser. There is no upload, no account and no record kept.
