Splatoon 4 is on the Horizon, Says Nintendo Producer

In a recent chat, a producer from the series, Seita Inoue, dropped the bombshell that Splatoon 4 is indeed in the works!

During a segment called Ask the Developer, Inoue addressed a direct question about why the next game is a spin-off rather than a traditional sequel. He clarified that although Splatoon Raiders is taking a different direction, Nintendo is committed to maintaining competitive gameplay in future installments. Inoue mentioned that they aim to offer “a new entry point into the series” while exploring varied gameplay styles.

He pointed out that the franchise isn’t solely about competitive play, reminding fans of the PvE Salmon Run mode and the engaging single-player story modes that have been part of the series from the start. This approach shows that Nintendo is keen on diversifying the experience for players.

Inoue highlighted that Nintendo has been tirelessly working on this franchise for over 11 years, consistently delivering fresh content with each title. Given that Splatoon 3 made waves upon its launch in 2022, the anticipation for a classic Splatoon 4—possibly as a Switch 2 exclusive—is definitely rising.

As for Splatoon Raiders, early reviews describe it as “loads of fun,” featuring a single-player campaign that surpasses previous attempts to integrate story elements into the mainline games. This spin-off is set to hit the shelves on July 23, and it’s clear that the Splatoon universe is thriving!
