Capcom Kicks Off 2026 with a Bang! Pragmata Surprises Everyone with 2.5 Million Sales

Capcom is kicking off 2026 with an absolute bang! The latest Q1 financial report is in, and while it’s no shock that the gaming giant is doing incredibly well, there’s one particular title that’s stolen the spotlight and surprised many, including us: Pragmata.

Since its release earlier this year, Pragmata has managed to sell a whopping 2.5 million copies in just three months. Now, for a brand-new IP with no existing fanbase and what felt like a quiet post-launch period, those are seriously impressive numbers. Many of us might not have expected such a strong performance, but it turns out Pragmata had more going for it than initial buzz suggested.

For those who dived into the game, Pragmata offered a unique experience with its old-school shooter vibes, engaging QTE hacking, and a narrative that really pulled players in. Reviewers highlighted its clever puzzles, the compelling main duo, and genuinely poignant story moments. This success is a massive win not just for the game itself, but for Capcom, showing that taking a chance on fresh concepts and new worlds can truly pay off.

Of course, Pragmata wasn’t the only engine driving Capcom’s stellar quarter. The ever-popular Resident Evil franchise continues its reign, with Resident Evil Requiem now boasting over 8 million copies sold – a significant jump from the 6 million reported back in March. The buzz around the Devil May Cry animated series also played its part, keeping fans engaged and contributing to the overall sales momentum.

All these successes mean Capcom is firmly on track to hit its full-year earnings forecast. The numbers are staggering: net sales are up an incredible 54.7% year-on-year, and operating profits have soared by 66.9% compared to the same period last year. Talk about a comeback!

This stellar performance is a huge turnaround from Q1 2025, which saw Monster Hunter Wilds sales plummet, dropping over 95% from its launch quarter and selling fewer copies than even Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil 4 remake, and Resident Evil Village. Clearly, Capcom has learned from its past and is now firing on all cylinders. It’s great to see a company not only bounce back but also be rewarded for investing in diverse and innovative titles alongside its established blockbusters.
