Legendary Realms Return in D&D Icons: New Adventures Await!

Exciting news for tabletop RPG enthusiasts! Joe Manganiello, known for both his acting chops and passion for role-playing games, has just announced the launch of D&D Icons. This fresh initiative aims to bring iconic creators back to beloved settings, giving fans something to look forward to.

At the recent Gen Con 2026, Manganiello, who serves as the chief creative officer for this new imprint, unveiled the first slate of D&D Icons books. Fans can expect epic tales from Dragonlance, crafted by the legendary duo Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. Additionally, the beloved series “The Legend of Drizzt” by RA Salvatore will also make a comeback. To top it off, a Greyhawk project helmed by Luke Gygax—son of the original D&D creator, Gary Gygax—will bring to life some of his father’s unfinished work. While there’s no fixed release date just yet, the Greyhawk book could potentially be available as early as 2027.

For those unfamiliar with these timeless worlds, you can currently find the first novel featuring Drizzt Do’Urden at a fantastic discount on Kindle, and the initial three books of the Dragonlance Chronicles are also available at a reduced price.

But that’s not all! Wizards of the Coast has more Greyhawk content in the pipeline. They recently showcased a new adventure titled “Greyhawk: Crown of the Witch Queen” at Gen Con. This upcoming release pits adventurers against Drelnza, a vampire with a vendetta, who is determined to reclaim her birthright. Given that Drelnza is the daughter of Tasha—a well-known D&D character who will be pivotal in the upcoming Warlock video game—players might be in for quite the challenge. Expect this thrilling adventure to launch in late 2027, featuring a grand, operatic storyline that merges classic Greyhawk elements with modern twists.

As for the other projects in the works, details remain scarce. The Dragonlance RPG book will be the first in two decades with the original creators at the helm, promising a treasure trove of lore packed into one epic volume. Meanwhile, Luke Gygax’s involvement ensures that the Greyhawk adventure stays true to its roots while exploring new narratives.

This year’s Gen Con is bustling with excitement, featuring a long-awaited revamp of Dark Sun and even a crossover of D&D with World of Warcraft. We caught up with designer James Wyatt, who hinted at a chance to explore Azeroth like never before in this upcoming tabletop adaptation.
