PayPak Cards Could Be Required for Government Payments
In a significant move to enhance local financial systems, 1LINK has put forth a proposal that could see PayPak cards becoming a requirement for all government salary accounts. This initiative aims to streamline subsidy programs and public sector payments while reducing the country’s dependence on international card providers like Visa and Mastercard.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has shared these proposals, highlighting the benefits of adopting a more localized payment solution. By encouraging the use of PayPak cards, the government hopes to foster a robust domestic payment ecosystem that can serve citizens without relying on foreign entities.
This step is part of a broader effort to strengthen Pakistan’s financial independence and encourage the use of homegrown payment solutions. If implemented, this could be a game changer for how government payments are processed in the country.
