If you’ve been adventuring through the whimsical world of Big Walk with your friends, chances are you’ve already had a blast customizing your characters at the usual paint studio near the game’s start. But what if we told you there’s a super-secret, hidden workshop waiting for you, brimming with exclusive, dazzling colors and a coveted achievement?

That’s right! To truly stand out and earn the “Big Makeover” achievement or trophy, you’ll need to locate this elusive second paint studio and discover how to get your character looking absolutely shiny. Ready to flex on your friends with a unique new look? Let’s dive in!

First things first, getting that shiny aesthetic isn’t a mandatory step to complete the main game. Even seasoned explorers might finish the entire story before stumbling upon this secret. It’s totally optional, but for all you completionists out there who crave every achievement and trophy, this guide is your golden ticket! (A quick heads-up for our Nintendo Switch players: while you won’t get the trophy, you’ll still get to rock a seriously cool, shiny look!)

Getting shiny is a fantastic side quest that adds a whole new level of flair to your character as you explore every nook and cranny the island has to offer. Since Big Walk lets you explore the island in almost any order, we’ll map out the most straightforward path starting from the main meet-up spot. If you’re coming from another area, just adjust your route accordingly!

A small heads-up: there might be minor exploration spoilers ahead, but nothing that ruins the main story!

Your First Hurdle: The Yellow Tower

Before you can even dream of finding the shiny studio, you MUST complete the yellow tower. This means gathering those five elusive MacGuffins (you know, those little red ‘eggy’ treasures we’re always hunting!) and bringing them to the very top. Doing so will unlock and shape the key, granting you access to the intricate tunnel system beneath the island. No tunnels, no shiny!

Navigating the Tunnels: Your Journey to Sparkle

Once the tunnels are open, head back to that big, red, circular hub where every session kicks off. We like to call it ‘the Gym’ – makes it easy to remember. From the Gym:

1. Enter the Shortcut: Look for the gap to the right of the map room. If you haven’t opened the map room or its shortcut door yet, it’s downhill from the red tower, right next to the Gym. Head through this handy shortcut.
2. Follow the Trail: Continue along the path. You’ll have a massive, unclimbable rock wall to your left. After about 30 to 60 seconds of walking, you’ll spot a red tunnel entrance on your left. This is your gateway!
3. Tunnel Time: Enter the red tunnel. Grab a flashlight if you don’t have one – trust us, you’ll want it!
4. Ascend: At the end of this initial hallway, your only way forward is up a long, narrow staircase to the right. Take those stairs.
5. First Crossroads: You’ll emerge into a corridor with signs on the floor pointing towards the yellow or green tower. While both could eventually lead you there, the path towards the green tower is the most direct for our goal. So, head to the right.
6. Color-Shifting Hallway: This path will take you through a corridor that beautifully transitions from blue to red, then finally yellow. Just keep pushing straight until you see a green door ahead. Go through it.
7. Second Crossroads: You’re now at another junction. Going left leads to the blue tower, while straight takes you to the green tower. For the shiny studio, you need to go left into the blue corridor. It’ll look like a big ramp leading upwards.
8. Narrow Passage: You’ll pass through a doorway into a narrow hall. Here, take a left. The blue hallway will then shift colors to green, and finally red.
9. Stay Focused: Up ahead, you might spot a small grey door. That’s another secret entirely – worth checking out later, but for now, stay focused on your shiny mission!
10. Red Spiral: After resisting the urge to explore the grey door, take a left through the red, spiraling hallway.
11. Green Path to Glory: The corridor will change colors again, turning green. Keep going straight through this green hallway until you come across a small red door. This door is special; it will feature a unique circular paint design in red, blue, and green – a tell-tale sign you’re in the right place, as no other door in the tunnels looks quite like this!
12. The Grand Reveal: Step through that distinct red door, and you’ll find yourself on a purple-walled staircase. Walk or jump all the way down to the bottom. Congratulations! You’ve found it – the legendary secret paint studio, brimming with exclusive bronze, silver, and gold hues!

Your Big Makeover Moment!

Now that you’ve found the studio, remember a key detail: just like with many items in Big Walk, you can’t actually paint yourself; your co-op buddy needs to do the honors. Once your partner applies any of the three shiny colors (bronze, silver, or gold) to your character, you’ll instantly pop that “Big Makeover” Achievement or Trophy! (Switch players, you’ll just get to rock a super cool look!)
