Marvel Tokon’s PC Launch Blues: PSN Requirements and Performance Hit New Fighting Game

Gamers, get ready for some news that’s a mix of exciting and frustrating! Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, the latest brawler from the legendary Arc System Works, finally landed on PC and PS5 yesterday, August 6, 2026. With its unique art style, a stellar roster of Marvel heroes and villains like Spider-Man, Doctor Doom, Wolverine, and Magneto, and Arc System Works at the helm, this game was on everyone’s radar as a potential fighting game champion. However, its PC debut on Steam has been anything but smooth sailing.

Currently, the game is sitting at “Mixed” user reviews on Steam, with a disappointing 44% positive rating out of over 2,500 reviews. It seems many PC players are facing a gauntlet of technical issues and frustrating publisher decisions right out of the gate. The main culprits? A mandatory PlayStation Network (PSN) account requirement, a lack of Linux support, and some significant performance hiccups.

The PSN account linking has emerged as a major pain point. Players found out weeks ago that this requirement would effectively block the game in over 100 countries. This isn’t the first time Sony has stirred up controversy with mandatory PSN linking on PC; remember the Helldivers 2 uproar in 2024? While Sony eventually backtracked on that one, it seems the requirement for Marvel Tokon, also published by PlayStation, is sticking around. Fans are understandably upset about being forced to create and link a PSN account just to play, especially when it means many friends in different regions can’t even join the fight.

Beyond the PSN saga, Linux and Steam Deck users are particularly vocal. Many reviews highlight the baffling lack of support for Linux, despite Easy Anti-Cheat (which the game uses) already having compatibility with Proton when developers enable it. As one frustrated gamer put it, “There is no good technical excuse for shutting out Linux here… Tokon treats Linux players as disposable before they even reach the character select screen.”

And then there are the performance issues. Players are reporting low framerates, with some struggling to hit even 45fps in a fighting game – a genre where every frame counts! Complaints about poor netcode and rollback spikes during online play are also common, making the competitive experience less than ideal. If your rig can handle Tekken or Street Fighter, you’d expect Marvel Tokon to run smoothly, but that’s not always the case right now.

Here’s the kicker: despite all these problems, many of the negative reviews still praise the core game itself! Players are loving Arc System Works’ incredible design, the stylish take on iconic characters like Ghost Rider, Ms. Marvel, and Iron Man, and the sheer fun of the gameplay. It’s a classic case of a fantastic game being held back by a troubled PC port and publisher policies.

In response to the growing feedback, the official MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls social media account has acknowledged the situation. They stated, “We’re aware that some PC players are experiencing performance issues. The team is actively investigating these reports. Please keep your feedback coming in, it helps.”

It’s great to see Arc System Works addressing the community, but PC gamers are eagerly awaiting concrete fixes for these critical issues. Hopefully, the developers can iron out these wrinkles soon so everyone can truly enjoy the epic Marvel battles they’ve been anticipating. We’ll keep you updated on any developments!
