Massive Steam Leak May Have Exposed Upcoming and Unannounced PC Games

Steam may have accidentally exposed achievement data for a huge number of upcoming PC games, and the leak could potentially be even more revealing than the infamous Nvidia GeForce NOW leak from 2021.

The information appeared through Exophase, a third-party website that tracks achievements and trophies across different gaming platforms. According to reports, achievement lists that were supposed to remain private became accessible through Steam’s API and were picked up by the site’s scanners.

The alleged leak includes achievements for several major upcoming games, including:

• Judas

Some of these games are already known, but the achievement lists could reveal information that publishers haven’t announced yet. In the case of Persona 6 and Kingdom Hearts IV, the leaked achievements reportedly contain potential story, gameplay and location spoilers.

Unannounced Games May Have Appeared Too

The bigger story is that the data apparently doesn’t stop with games that have already been announced.

Some entries appear to reference projects that haven’t been officially revealed. Reports have pointed to what could potentially be a new Balatro-related project, although exactly what it represents remains unclear.

Another interesting discovery involves Thief: The Dark Project Remastered, where the leaked information appears to reference a campaign called The Tarnished Mirror.

There are also listings associated with unannounced Nickelodeon and Telltale’s The Walking Dead projects among the wider batch of leaked data.

Why This Leak Could Be a Big Deal

The situation is already drawing comparisons to Nvidia’s massive GeForce NOW database leak from 2021.

The difference is that achievement data can reveal much more than the existence of a game. Achievement names and descriptions can potentially expose characters, locations, bosses, story events, gameplay mechanics and even endings.

That makes this particularly dangerous for games such as Persona 6, where relatively little has been publicly revealed so far.

It also means players looking forward to these games should be careful when browsing achievement databases or social media, as some of the leaked lists reportedly contain significant spoilers.
