Blood of Dawnwalker Director Responds to PC Players Asking for 120 FPS
The Blood of Dawnwalker director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz has responded to PC players asking for even higher frame rates, suggesting that the type of game doesn’t necessarily require 120 FPS to deliver the intended experience.
While Tomaszkiewicz acknowledged that players naturally want strong performance from their games, he said he finds it somewhat surprising when people complain about frame rates that are already comfortably above 60 FPS.
“When you see that the game is over 60 FPS, but people still complain that it’s not 120, but 90 or 70… the game is about something else. It’s not a shooter — it’s not a game where it’s so important.”
His point appears to be that The Blood of Dawnwalker, as a narrative-focused action RPG, doesn’t depend on extremely high frame rates in quite the same way that a competitive or fast-paced shooter might.
Rebel Wolves Is Still Working on Optimization
That doesn’t mean the developers are ignoring performance concerns.
Rebel Wolves is continuing to optimize the PC version, with the studio having to account for the enormous variety of CPUs, GPUs, memory configurations, drivers, and other hardware combinations found across PC gaming.
PC optimization can be particularly challenging because performance that is excellent on one configuration may not necessarily translate perfectly to another.

More Performance Improvements Are Coming
Players hoping for better performance may not have to wait too long either.
The game’s major October patch is expected to include additional performance improvements, meaning Rebel Wolves is still actively working to squeeze more performance out of the game even if Tomaszkiewicz believes 70–90 FPS is already perfectly playable for this type of experience.
The comments highlight an increasingly common debate in PC gaming. Is maintaining more than 60 FPS enough for a single-player RPG, or should modern high-end PCs be expected to push games toward 120 FPS and beyond?
For Rebel Wolves, the priority appears to be delivering a smooth experience while continuing to optimize the game — rather than treating 120 FPS as an essential target for every player.
