Wolfenstein TV Series in the Works by Fallout Show Creators

Amazon is expanding its game-to-screen adaptations with a new project: a Wolfenstein TV series. According to Variety, this upcoming show will be produced by Kilter Films, the same team behind Amazon’s successful Fallout adaptation, and will feature Patrick Somerville—known for his work on Station Eleven and HBO’s The Leftovers—as the lead writer.

A Legacy of Resistance

The series will draw inspiration from the long-running Wolfenstein franchise, which has been synonymous with anti-Nazi storytelling in gaming since the early 1980s. The games follow the exploits of BJ Blazkowicz, a battle-hardened American soldier fighting against a fictional Nazi regime in an alternate history timeline. The show’s tagline, reportedly pitched as “The story of killing Nazis is evergreen,” mirrors the bold tone of recent Wolfenstein titles like The New Colossus (2017), which famously carried the slogan “Make America Nazi-Free Again.”

Back in 2017, Bethesda’s VP of marketing Pete Hines clarified the series’ unapologetic message, saying:

“It’s what this franchise has always been about. We aren’t afraid to embrace what BJ stands for and what Wolfenstein represents. When it comes to Nazis, you can put us down in the ‘against’ column.”

Gaming to Streaming: A Growing Trend

The announcement of a Wolfenstein series comes amid a growing wave of video game adaptations for streaming platforms. Amazon is already working on Mass Effect and Warhammer 40K projects, while Netflix has revived plans for a live-action Assassin’s Creed series. These moves follow the massive success of video game-inspired shows like The Last of Us (HBO) and Fallout (Amazon Prime).

Though many adaptations are announced and never see the light of day, the involvement of Kilter Films and Amazon—buoyed by Fallout’s recent acclaim—makes Wolfenstein one of the more promising projects currently in development.

Looking Ahead

While no official release date or cast has been confirmed, fans of the franchise and newcomers alike can expect a gritty, action-packed dive into an alternate past where resistance against fascism takes center stage. Whether the show will directly follow the game’s storylines or forge a new narrative remains to be seen—but one thing is clear: the legacy of BJ Blazkowicz will live on, this time on the small screen.
