Star Trek: Resurgence Is About To Warp Out of Digital Stores Forever!

Hey, fellow gamers! Got some not-so-great news for all the Trekkies and narrative adventure lovers out there. Star Trek: Resurgence, that cool story-driven title we’ve been talking about, is reportedly about to vanish from digital storefronts for good. Yeah, you read that right – it’s getting delisted!

Released back in May 2023, Resurgence was a treat for fans of the classic Telltale Games style. Imagine diving deep into a brand-new Star Trek story, making tough decisions that genuinely shape the plot, much like in The Walking Dead or A Wolf Among Us. Player feedback often praised it as a perfect blend of dramatic Star Trek storytelling and engaging choice-based gameplay. If you enjoy rich narratives and exploring the Star Trek universe from a fresh perspective, this was definitely one to check out.

So, why the sudden departure? The developers, Dramatic Labs, quietly announced on Steam that their “license to distribute Star Trek: Resurgence has come to an end.” This means they can no longer sell the game. The announcement was pretty low-key, without much fanfare, which is a bit of a bummer. The good news is, if you already own the game, you’re safe! You’ll still be able to download and play it from your Steam or console library. But for anyone looking to buy it now, time is running out.

While an exact delisting date hasn’t been nailed down for PC yet, it’s widely speculated to be around May 23rd, exactly three years after its initial launch. Interestingly, the game first landed on the Epic Games Store in 2023 due to an exclusivity deal before making its way to Steam in 2024. What’s more, reports from the gaming community suggest the Xbox version of Resurgence has already disappeared from its store. So, don’t wait around if you’ve been eyeing this one!

It seems Star Trek games often face this kind of fate. They tend to have a shorter digital shelf life compared to other franchises. Remember Star Trek: Bridge Crew? It lasted about five years before it was delisted. And that 2013 third-person shooter? Gone in just three years! It’s a bit sad to see these games disappear, but thankfully, the Star Trek universe is vast. You can still find plenty of other awesome Star Trek titles on Steam, from classics like Interplay’s Starfleet Academy to the old-school 1992 point-and-click adventure.

A quick shout-out to the team behind Resurgence: Dramatic Labs. This studio was founded by former Telltale Games CEO Kevin Bruner, along with many other talented folks who worked on beloved Telltale titles. They clearly brought that magic touch to Star Trek: Resurgence. Neither Dramatic Labs nor its publisher, Bruner House (also founded by Kevin Bruner), have announced any new projects since Resurgence, making this delisting even more significant for their fans.

So, if you’ve ever wanted to explore the final frontier in a narrative adventure style, now’s your last chance to grab Star Trek: Resurgence before it warps out of digital existence. Don’t miss your opportunity to boldly go where many might soon be unable to!
