Pickmos Out! ‘Shameless Copy’ Game Kicked Off Steam, Publisher Takes Over Development

Remember Pickmos, that game everyone was talking about for, well, *other* reasons than originality? Turns out, its Steam page has vanished! Poof! Gone.

This game, originally called Pickmon, gained a lot of attention for being an incredibly blatant copycat. We’re talking about taking inspiration to a whole new level – from Pokémon, The Legend of Zelda, Overwatch, and even Palworld itself. Many gamers felt Palworld, despite its own issues, looked like an original masterpiece compared to Pickmos.

Just recently, the developers, PocketGame, tried to fix things by changing its name from ‘Pickmon’ to ‘Pickmos.’ Yeah, changing one letter. As you can imagine, that didn’t really calm anyone down. The internet just collectively scratched its head at what seemed like an almost comical attempt to rebrand.

But now, the real drama begins. NetworkGo, the publisher behind Pickmos, has officially stepped in and taken control. They put out a statement saying they’ve “officially intervened in the development of PocketGame” and will be “supervising the Pickmos team from a player’s perspective.” Sounds like someone got a serious talking-to!

Before the publisher’s big announcement, a message from PocketGame itself appeared, hinting that NetworkGo was taking the reins. They mentioned they were “revising the game to ensure a controversy-free experience” and would re-release it once the publisher gave the green light.

Seriously, the copying was so extreme, one gaming journalist famously said Pickmos didn’t just “file the serial number off Pokémon—it just crossed it out with crayon.” There was even an instance where the studio, when accused of stealing a fan artist’s work, bizarrely asked the artist to “provide proof of the trademark rights for the designs in question.” Talk about bold!

It seems like all this ‘creative’ borrowing was leading PocketGame down a very risky path, potentially inviting a lot of legal trouble and damaging their reputation. It’s likely NetworkGo decided enough was enough before things got even worse.

So, for now, Pickmos is gone from Steam. You can find traces of its existence on sites like SteamDB, but the game itself is nowhere to be seen. Whether this controversial title will ever make a comeback, and in what form, remains a big question mark. We’ll be keeping an eye out!
