Enter the Wild: Wordless Forest Puts You in a True Survival Challenge
If you’re tired of the usual survival games where you can easily whip up an axe from just a stick and a rock, then get ready for something completely different! Introducing Wordless Forest, a unique FMV (Full Motion Video) survival game that promises a more genuine experience, and it’s all thanks to its creator, Dogus Cagrici.
What sets Wordless Forest apart? Well, Dogus didn’t just sit in an office to create this game; he embarked on a 40-day solo adventure in the wilderness of Turkey. Not only does he star in the game, but he also filmed all the footage himself while hiking through dense forests across four different cities. Talk about dedication!
Imagine trekking through the wild with heavy camera gear on your back, all while keeping an eye out for brown bears and wild boars! Cagrici spent his days filming in various challenging conditions, from wading through freezing rivers in Muğla to precariously balancing on cliffs in Antalya. Every location presented its own dangers, and Cagrici describes the experience as incredibly exhausting, proving that the struggle shown in the game is entirely real.
The trailer for Wordless Forest gives us a sneak peek into the gritty survival that awaits players. You’ll see Cagrici’s character drinking from puddles, catching raw fish, and trying to start a fire, all while facing life-or-death choices. Do you approach that strange noise in the woods at night, or do you ignore it? For me, I’d probably choose the option to run away screaming!
One of the most intriguing aspects of Wordless Forest is its complete lack of dialogue. This silent approach enhances the immersion, allowing players to experience survival visually, much like in movies such as Cast Away and All is Lost. It’s a refreshing change from games that rely heavily on dialogue and narrative exposition.
It seems we may be witnessing the emergence of a new genre with Wordless Forest as it stands out as an FMV survival game. While there have been FMV horror games, this one charts new territory in the survival genre. According to Cagrici, the game has been in the works for nearly three years and is set to launch on Steam this August. We can’t wait to see how it turns out!
