From the post titled “We Are Xbox,” it became clear that the company recognizes several challenges: less frequent updates for console features, an underwhelming presence on PC, rising prices, and fragmented core experiences like search and social interactions. The message also pointed out that developers are in need of better tools and insights to thrive in this competitive market.

Booty assured everyone that Xbox is committed to being “affordable, personal, and open,” stating that flexible pricing models will be implemented to make it easier for gamers to dive in and continue enjoying their favorite titles. Four main focus areas have been identified: hardware, content, experience, and services.

In her brief time as head of Xbox, Sharma has already made some bold moves, including scrapping the unpopular “This is an Xbox” marketing campaign. Recently, she also tweaked the pricing for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, making some big changes that could signal a shift towards better alignment with gamer expectations, especially in light of new Call of Duty titles being temporarily unavailable on these services after their launch.
