Take-Two’s CEO Talks GTA 6 Pricing and Hints at L.A. Noire Future
In a recent chat at a video game exec conference, Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick shed some light on the hot topic of Grand Theft Auto 6 pricing. While he didn’t drop any definite numbers, he hinted that the game might not hit the sky-high price tags some have speculated. According to Zelnick, it’s all about value for the players. He stated, “Consumers pay for the value that you bring to them, and our job is to charge way way way less of the value delivery.”
Zelnick stressed that gamers should feel like they’re getting an incredible experience for a fair price. He pointed out that game prices have actually gone down over the years, noting how major titles have stuck to the $60-$70 range despite rising inflation in the economy. “When you look at it through that lens, that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. But we focus on delivering something amazing while ensuring the price feels reasonable,” he added.
As for the success of GTA 6, Zelnick admitted he’s a bit apprehensive about measuring it, but he and his team are more focused on crafting an unforgettable gaming experience. He declared, “What we think about is making the most spectacular piece of entertainment on Earth, in history. It’s a daunting challenge, but if we nail that and serve our customers well, the rest will fall into place.” And in a light-hearted moment, he joked that many might be calling in sick on November 19.
On another note, he shared a glimmer of hope for fans of L.A. Noire regarding a possible sequel. While he didn’t confirm anything specific, he mentioned that they’re always exploring future opportunities with their existing franchises. “There’s nothing to announce on L.A. Noire specifically, and if there were, it would be Rockstar announcing it, not me. But we’re constantly thinking about our legacy IP,” he remarked.
With GTA 6 scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, the excitement is palpable. We’ll be keeping a close eye on all the developments leading up to what could be the most significant gaming launch in history!
