The Merchant Makes a Comeback in Resident Evil Requiem Thanks to a New Mod!

Hey gamers! If you’ve been diving into Resident Evil Requiem and felt something was missing, you’re not alone. Many fans were disappointed to see the iconic Merchant from RE4 absent from Leon’s latest adventure. Well, guess what? A talented modder has come to the rescue!

Resident Evil 4 has stood the test of time, not just for its gripping gameplay but also for its memorable characters. The Merchant, with his distinct voice and quirky charm, was a standout. But in Resident Evil Requiem, he was replaced by a rather bland supply box. Luckily, thanks to a mod created by user fanteeek over on Nexus Mods, players can now experience a wave of nostalgia as they summon the Merchant back into action.

This mod allows Leon to interact with the Merchant instead of the supply box during his story missions. A clip showcasing the mod’s functionality went viral on social media, showing how PC players can once again hear that familiar “welcome” from the Merchant.

The mod is pretty straightforward. Leon still has access to his arsenal of guns and upgrades, but now he can do it all with the Merchant by his side. Currently, the mod features just a single welcome greeting from the Merchant, but fanteeek has plans to expand his dialogue and animations in future updates. It looks like this version of the Merchant is based on the character from the Resident Evil 4 remake, which fans will definitely appreciate.

Capcom released Resident Evil Requiem across multiple platforms including PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S on February 27, 2026. While players are eagerly waiting for more content, including a story expansion and a mini-game, this mod is a fantastic way to relive those classic RE4 moments while tackling the new challenges.

So, if you’re on PC and miss the Merchant, this mod has you covered until Capcom decides to bring him back officially. Happy gaming, and here’s hoping for more surprises from the Resident Evil universe!
