Cosmere Fans, Suno! Brandon Sanderson Links Stormlight TV Series to Apple TV’s Hit ‘Murderbot’
Aray yaar, Cosmere fans of Pakistan, gather ’round! We’ve got some seriously cool updates straight from the legend himself, Brandon Sanderson. If you’ve been eagerly waiting for news on his epic Cosmere universe hitting the big screen or your TV screens, then you’re in for a treat. It seems like the gears are slowly but surely turning, and Sanderson just dropped a major hint about the future of his adaptations, specifically the much-anticipated Stormlight Archive TV series.
Now, you might be wondering, what’s a robot with murderous tendencies got to do with the Knights Radiant? Well, it all started on Sanderson’s weekly podcast, “Intentionally Blank.” In a recent episode, he sat down with his wife, Emily Sanderson, to chat about Apple TV’s new show, Murderbot. This series, based on Martha Wells’ popular Murderbot Diaries books, premiered in May 2025 and has apparently been a huge hit.
Brandon Sanderson himself was super impressed, giving the show a solid nine out of ten! He even pondered if it deserved a perfect ten, asking if there was anything they could have done better. His wife, Emily, also gave it a strong rating, reportedly closer to an eight out of ten. So, clearly, this adaptation is doing something right!
But here’s where it gets really interesting for us Cosmere faithful. Sanderson revealed the secret sauce: “It’s actually one of the same TV execs as on Stormlight,” he shared. Imagine the relief! He watched Murderbot, loved it, and thought, “Oh, good. I sold him this.” This means a key executive who played a role in the successful adaptation of Murderbot is now also involved with bringing Stormlight Archive to life. That’s a massive confidence booster, knowing someone with a track record for quality sci-fi adaptations is on board for Roshar!
While details about the Stormlight Archive series have been pretty scarce since the initial announcement, Sanderson has confirmed he’ll be a co-showrunner once production properly kicks off. Currently, he’s heavily focused on getting the script for the Mistborn movie done – and guess what? It’s already 72% complete according to his website’s progress bar! Once that’s locked in, he’ll be shifting gears to work on a pilot episode for Stormlight.
So, while both the Stormlight Archive series and the Mistborn movie might still be a little ways off, this news is definitely a ray of hope. It signals that the right people are in place, making smart decisions, and setting the stage for what could be truly epic adaptations of Sanderson’s beloved worlds.
