Tracer in Fortnite: Gamers Spot a Familiar “Buff” in Her New Look!
The gaming world is always buzzing when a massive crossover happens, and the arrival of Overwatch heroes in Fortnite has definitely set the internet on fire! While everyone’s hyped to see their favourite characters dropping into the Battle Royale island, there’s one particular hero, Tracer, who’s got gamers talking about something… a little extra. And no, we’re not just talking about her blink abilities!
Turns out, many eagle-eyed fans are convinced that Tracer’s character model in Fortnite has received a noticeable “buff” – specifically, to her backside. If this sounds familiar, that’s because it’s not the first time Tracer’s proportions have been the centre of a gaming debate!
Rewind almost a decade to the early days of Overwatch, and you’ll find a whole saga around Tracer’s default victory pose. Back then, some players complained that a particular pose showed “too much” of her rear. Blizzard, in response, changed the pose. Ironically, that led to *other* gamers complaining there wasn’t “enough” anymore! Former Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan later clarified that the actual model proportions never changed; it was just the pose itself that was adjusted. Over time, that whole episode became a bit of a running joke in the community.
Fast forward to today, and with Tracer now zipping around in Fortnite, the conversation has officially restarted. Gamers, especially those active on forums and subreddits dedicated to Tracer, are sharing side-by-side comparisons, pointing out what they believe is a clear visual upgrade to her glutes in her new Fortnite incarnation.
Now, we’re not here to be overly critical or objectify game characters, but purely from an observational standpoint, the visual evidence being shared by the community does seem to suggest a difference. It looks like the Unreal Engine is really putting in some extra work to render every detail!
So, what’s the deal? There are a couple of theories floating around. One possibility is that Epic Games simply designed Tracer’s Fortnite model with a slightly different aesthetic, perhaps aligning with their own character design philosophies. Another idea is that the Unreal Engine, on which Fortnite runs, naturally renders character models with a bit more… emphasis in certain areas. Or, maybe, just maybe, it’s all in our heads!
Whatever the reason, it’s certainly given the community something to chat about while they’re racking up Victory Royales. We’ll be keeping an ear out to see if Epic Games or Blizzard offer any official comments on Tracer’s newly perceived “embiggened” look. Until then, what do *you* think? Have you noticed the change?
