Red Dead Redemption 2 Surpasses Wii Sports in All-Time Sales Rankings

While the buzz around GTA 6 is palpable, Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to make waves in the gaming world, boasting impressive sales figures that haven’t been seen since its debut in 2018. As of March 2026, this epic title has reached a milestone of 85 million copies sold, making it one of the top-selling games of all time. To put that into perspective, it’s still a bit behind the incredible 230 million copies of GTA 5, but it has now officially surpassed Wii Sports, claiming the third spot in the all-time rankings.

It’s kind of puzzling, though, as many players have been eagerly awaiting a 60fps update for Red Dead Redemption 2 on the latest consoles. Despite Rockstar Games’ massive success with the title, the game remains stuck at 30fps on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, leading to a chorus of fans calling for an upgrade that seems to be nowhere in sight.

On the other hand, Red Dead Online hasn’t quite kept pace with its sibling, GTA Online, both in terms of updates and revenue. Many fans are left wondering what could have been if Rockstar had poured more resources into enhancing the multiplayer experience of Red Dead Redemption 2.

The conversation around a potential Red Dead Redemption 3 is also gaining traction. Notably, Dan Houser, co-founder of Rockstar Games, hinted last year that it “will probably happen.” Similarly, Roger Clark, the voice behind Arthur Morgan, expressed his certainty that fans will eventually see a third installment, although he unfortunately couldn’t provide any timeline.

Even Hollywood star Jack Black joined the discussion, sharing his enthusiasm for a character he’d love to portray in a future Red Dead game. For now, though, Rockstar is laser-focused on GTA 6. Once they wrap up the launch and any follow-up for GTA Online, let’s hope they turn their attention back to the beloved Wild West universe.
