Early Gameplay Footage of 007 First Light Surfaces Amid Leaks

In an unexpected twist, IO Interactive has decided to share an early glimpse of the gameplay for 007 First Light after some copies of the game found their way into the wild before the official release. James Bond enthusiasts were buzzing over the weekend as some videos showcasing the game appeared online, despite the official launch not happening until May 26.

It seems that a few lucky gamers managed to get their hands on the game ahead of time, leading to uploads of gameplay footage. In response to this leak, IO Interactive took a moment on social media to address their eager fans, urging them to wait for the official release if they want to avoid spoilers. But for those who might have already caught a glimpse of the leaked content, the studio released a polished version of the first 13 minutes of gameplay from the highly anticipated title.

These initial moments drop Bond into the depths of the ocean after a helicopter mishap. Fans noted that much of this footage carries a Metal Gear vibe, showcasing a younger version of 007 as he stealthily navigates around guards, hiding behind wet rocks and finding his way to safety. This isn’t the classic suave James Bond we’ve come to know; rather, it reflects a more vulnerable agent during an earlier chapter of his life.

While the clip runs for 13 minutes, it seems the opening mission is set to extend beyond what we see. IOI has chosen to keep additional details under wraps following the leak, but suffice it to say, excitement is building as we approach the launch date.

007 First Light is set to launch for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S this week, with a version for the Nintendo Switch 2 also in the works for a later date. As we gear up for the action, be sure to check out our retrospective on the history of James Bond video games and stay tuned for our latest previews!
