Asus Unveils Luxurious Gold-Plated Harpe II Mouse – But Is It Worth the Price Tag?

Asus is celebrating 20 years of its ROG brand with an impressive showcase of flashy black and gold gaming gear at Computex. Among the standout items is the ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20, a lightweight mouse weighing in at just 82 grams, but packed with premium features that catch the eye.

This sleek gadget boasts “Authentic 24K gold-plated detailing” and a striking black translucent shell. At first glance, it might give off a vibe of cheapness due to the muted color palette, but it definitely holds its own in the looks department. The specs are undeniably impressive: it offers a maximum polling rate of 8,000 Hz, whether you’re using it wired or wirelessly, paired with Asus’s custom ROG 100M optical micro switches and a jaw-dropping 65,000 DPI sensor. Talk about pushing boundaries!

For comparison, the well-known Razer Viper V4 Pro offers a max polling rate of 8,000 Hz too but stops short at 50,000 DPI. However, let’s be honest—most gamers probably won’t benefit from such extreme specs. The 8k polling rate can drain battery life on a wireless mouse faster than you might think, which might make you think twice before splurging.

Weighing more than the Viper V4 Pro could hint at the added weight from those golden internals. This mouse is derived from the Harpe II Ace model, which is a featherlight 48 grams, and its shape has been designed with insights from esports professionals. Plus, it comes in a “display-ready presentation box” loaded with extras like stickers, a cable, additional connectors, and a keyring. Nice touch, right?

Alongside this mouse, Asus has also introduced the ROG Azoth Extreme Edition 20—a black and gold version of their popular gaming keyboard. As for the price of the Harpe II Extreme Edition 20, we don’t have a confirmed figure yet, but whispers suggest it might hit the market on June 2 for around $260 (approx. Rs 72,800). That’s a hefty sum, even for enthusiasts who appreciate the bling of gold plating and high-end specs. Just to put it in perspective, the Viper V4 Pro is about $100 (approx. Rs 28,000) cheaper!

I’ve reached out to Asus for confirmation on the pricing and release date, but so far, no word back. Given that this mouse is part of their special 20th-anniversary lineup, it feels more like a collector’s item than a typical gaming accessory. So, unless you’ve got spare cash left over from your last gaming spree, you might want to think carefully before diving into this luxurious offering!

Note: PKR figures are approximate, based on a rate of Rs 280.00 per USD. Exchange rates fluctuate — please check the latest dollar rate for exact pricing.
