LEGO Unveils the Iconic Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D: A Must-Have for Fans!

Hey gamers and collectors! If you’re into LEGO and Star Trek, then you likely heard the buzz about the LEGO U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D that launched at the end of last year. This set became one of the hottest items during the holiday season, and it was so popular that many had to wait months to get their hands on it. But guess what? The wait is finally over, and the supply has finally caught up with the demand!

After taking the time to build and photograph this stunning set, it’s easy to see why it was such a big deal. This LEGO kit is designed for adults who appreciate intricate builds and technical details, resulting in a truly beautiful model. Along with the impressive ship, the kit comes with nine minifigures from the beloved Next Generation crew, including iconic characters like Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Commander William T. Riker, and Lieutenant Commander Data, among others.

Each minifigure is packed with personality and detail. For instance, Data sports his signature yellow eyes, while Worf stands out with a unique headpiece that showcases his ridges. And let’s not forget Counselor Deanna Troi, who rocks her classic purple jumpsuit from earlier seasons. Some fans might miss Tasha Yar in the lineup, but I’m sure there are creative solutions out there for that!

Each character comes with their own unique accessories that die-hard Trek fans will cherish. Riker has his trusty trombone (sadly, “Nightbird” sheet music isn’t included), while Data has his beloved cat, Spot. Dr. Crusher is equipped with a tricorder, and Worf carries a phaser—though many might be wondering why he doesn’t have a Bat’leth. And how cool is Guinan’s signature hat, which looks just like it does on screen? These minifigures can be displayed on a sleek stand featuring the TNG logo.

The building process is divided into 30 bags with two instruction booklets. In the first half, you’ll construct the Engineering Hull and warp nacelles, while the second half focuses on building the saucer section before attaching it. The assembly is a slow and methodical process, requiring you to create futuristic designs with standard LEGO bricks. At times, it might feel like you’re making a puzzling structure, but trust the process—it all comes together beautifully in the end!

One interesting aspect is how the design team managed the saucer’s curve. Initially, it has sharp edges that don’t resemble the final product, but with clever design tricks, they turn those straight angles into the iconic smooth curves we know and love. The finished model is mounted on a LEGO Technic stand that cleverly counterbalances the ship’s weight, ensuring it stays upright without toppling over.

While the exterior is stunning, some fans may be a bit disappointed by the lack of detailed play elements inside the ship. For example, the shuttle bay is accessible, but there’s no representation of the Warp Core or the Bridge, which seems like a missed opportunity for such a large and premium set.

Despite those few drawbacks, the model captures the essence of the Enterprise-D perfectly, especially when you view it from iconic angles that fans will recognize immediately from the series. Those classic shots, whether it’s from the starboard side or right before the ship goes to warp, are beautifully recreated in this model.

As for me, I’m already planning the perfect display for this piece. I might even snag a light kit to make it shine—because who wouldn’t want their guests to experience the glow of the Enterprise? The LEGO U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D (Set #10356) retails for around $399.99 (approx. Rs 112,000) and is made up of a whopping 3600 pieces. It’s available now, so if you’re a fan, it might be time to add this gem to your collection!

Note: PKR figures are approximate, based on a rate of Rs 280.00 per USD. Exchange rates fluctuate — please check the latest dollar rate for exact pricing.
