NAB Set to Investigate Punjab’s Education Department Financial Mismanagement
The financial landscape of Punjab’s education sector is under the microscope as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) gears up to investigate alleged irregularities amounting to over Rs. 1.1 billion. This decisive move comes after the Punjab Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee-I (PAC-I) met recently to discuss troubling audit observations concerning the Higher Education Department.
During the meeting, chaired by Iftikhar Hussain Chachhar, members expressed serious concerns about the financial dealings within the department. The PAC-I concluded that the discrepancies were significant enough to warrant a thorough investigation by the NAB to ensure accountability and transparency in how educational funds are managed.
This investigation highlights the ongoing efforts to improve governance in Pakistan’s public sector, particularly in areas as crucial as education. As the NAB begins its inquiry, many are eager to see the outcomes and whether any corrective measures will be implemented to prevent such issues in the future.
