Government Slash on Customs Duty Aims to Lower Medicine Prices

In a significant move to ease the financial burden on patients, the Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has revealed that customs duty will be completely eliminated on more than 100 types of raw materials essential for local medicine manufacturing. This decision is part of the National Tariff Policy 2025-30, which aims to bolster domestic production, especially for critical treatments like cancer therapies.

The Finance Minister highlighted that this initiative is designed not just to lower the prices of medicines but also to encourage local manufacturers to step up their game in producing vital healthcare products. This could mean more accessible treatments for many Pakistanis dealing with serious health issues.

By removing these customs duties, the government is taking a proactive approach to support the healthcare sector and ensure that life-saving medicines are within reach for those who need them most. This could be a game-changer in the fight against high medical costs in the country.
