PC Gamers, Khush Ho Jao! DualSense Haptics Ab PC Par (Unofficially!)
Pakistani PC gamers using a PlayStation DualSense controller, we’ve got some exciting news for you! For ages, we’ve been connecting our fancy DualSense controllers to our PCs, enjoying the comfort and precision, but always missing that one killer feature: the immersive haptic feedback and adaptive triggers that make the PS5 experience so special. Well, guess what? Unofficial support for these incredible features has finally arrived!
You know the drill: hook up your DualSense with a wire or connect it via Bluetooth (sometimes requiring a bit of extra effort, amirite?). The controller works, but it feels… incomplete. Those subtle vibrations, the nuanced trigger resistance – they were all missing from our PC gaming sessions. Sony, for all its might, never bothered to officially bring this magic to the PC platform. But where official support lacks, dedicated third-party developers often step up!
Enter DSX, a fantastic tool that’s been helping PC gamers get more out of their DualSense. Their latest v3.2 Beta 01 update is a game-changer! It introduces “Virtual DualSense with Audio support,” which basically means games can now send native DualSense audio and, more importantly, those glorious haptics directly through DSX, whether you’re connected via Bluetooth or USB. Imagine feeling every raindrop in Returnal or the subtle rumble of an engine – it’s a whole new level of immersion!
Now, before you get too excited and start plugging in your controller, there’s a small catch, yaaro. This amazing functionality isn’t free. To unlock the full haptic and audio support, you’ll need to grab the base DSX software from Steam, which costs around $7.99 (approx. Rs 2,240). On top of that, you’ll need the DSX+ ‘DLC’ for another $3.99 (approx. Rs 1,120). So, you’re looking at just over ten dollars for features that come standard on a PS5. A bit much? Maybe. But hey, these small teams put in a lot of hard work to give us what Sony wouldn’t, and they need to keep the lights on too!
The update also brings a neat quality-of-life improvement: you can now launch the controller software manually outside of Steam. Handy, right? Just a heads-up, though, it uses a 28-day “ownership cache,” so you’ll still need to fire up Steam at least once a month to keep everything ticking smoothly. And for all these new haptic goodies, you’ll need to make sure you’re opted into the DSX Beta branch on Steam.
While we haven’t personally tested how refined this haptic feedback feels compared to the native PS5 experience, it’s a huge step forward for PC gamers. It feels a bit ironic, doesn’t it? Sony is bringing more and more of its big exclusive titles like God of War and Spider-Man to PC, yet they left us hanging for proper controller support. Still, better late than never, especially if you’re looking to dive into games like Returnal and experience them with the full DualSense glory.
We’ve always loved the subtle haptics in games like Final Fantasy XIV Online on PS5, and Astro’s Playroom is often called a “five-hour hand massage” for a reason! While we might never see Astro on PC (a PS5 exclusive, sadly), this DSX update opens the door for many other titles. It’s a testament to the community’s passion that when a big player like Sony overlooks something, smaller, dedicated teams step in to fill the void. So, if you’ve been craving that true DualSense feel on your PC, now might be the perfect time to give DSX a try!
