Baldur’s Gate 3 Sparks Hilarity with Geoff Keighley Lookalike
Baldur’s Gate 3 is nothing short of a colossal gaming experience. With so much content packed into the game, we all know there are countless Easter eggs and hidden references that players may never uncover. It’s part of the thrill—no matter how many hours you throw into it, there’s always something new waiting to surprise you. Recently, one such surprise has taken the internet by storm.
A player recently used a camera mod to zoom in on the title screen of Baldur’s Gate 3, posting it with the caption, “Who are these people bro?” This sparked a flurry of comments on social media, with many users suggesting that one of the characters looks strikingly similar to Geoff Keighley.
For those who might not know, Geoff Keighley is a well-known face in the gaming community, notably recognized as the creator and host of The Game Awards and Summer Game Fest. He even made headlines when online rumors jokingly claimed he had “divorced” famous game developer Hideo Kojima. The humor in seeing so many comments pointing out the NPC’s resemblance to Keighley is priceless, and it got even funnier when Keighley himself chimed in.
In a playful response, Keighley posted an emoji that suggested he might be in on the joke, or perhaps he was just as taken aback as the rest of us. Larian Studios, the talented developers behind Baldur’s Gate 3, also joined the fun, commenting cheekily, “That’s John Larian.” This led to even more speculation about the character’s true identity.
Whether the character in question is indeed a nod to Keighley, a portrayal of “John Larian,” or simply a new character design, it’s cool to see how players are digging deep into the game’s visuals. However, don’t get too excited about this NPC making a return. Larian has made it clear they have no plans to revisit the Forgotten Realms—the setting for Baldur’s Gate 3. According to CEO Swen Vincke, that would contradict the studio’s vision. Instead, they’re busy working on their next title in the Divinity series, which was teased with an eye-catching trailer full of action and wild themes at last year’s Game Awards.
