No Ratatouille 2 in Sight, Says Director Brad Bird

Looks like fans hoping for a sequel to Pixar’s beloved movie, Ratatouille, are going to be disappointed. Director Brad Bird has made it clear that he has no plans to revisit Remy’s culinary adventures any time soon. In a recent chat, Bird explained that he feels the story has already run its course, meaning no Ratatouille 2 is on the horizon.

When asked about the possibility of a sequel, Bird didn’t hold back. He stated that Pixar has attempted to persuade him to create another installment, but he’s not budging. “No, I don’t think so,” he said. “They’ve made little jokes to see how I’d react, but I firmly believe we’ve told that story.” Bird pointed out that while it’s normal for audiences to want more of a good thing, he believes the tale of Remy and his rise in the culinary world has reached its conclusion.

Interestingly, Bird is more open to revisiting his superhero hit, The Incredibles. Pixar is already gearing up for The Incredibles 3, with Elemental director Peter Sohn at the helm and Bird providing the script. It’s likely he’ll reprise his iconic role as Edna Mode, the fashion-forward genius behind the superheroes’ suits.

While Bird’s decision might come as a surprise to some, especially with Pixar’s recent success with Toy Story 5, he stands firm. Many fans feel the Toy Story franchise may have pushed its luck, having reached an emotional high with Toy Story 3. Nonetheless, the studio continues to explore new stories within that universe.

Although Disney and Pixar could theoretically create a Ratatouille sequel without Bird, it could lead to a film that doesn’t quite capture the magic of the original. Plus, it could risk souring relationships with one of their key creative talents. For now, it seems like fans will just have to savor the deliciousness of the first Ratatouille and keep dreaming of what could have been.
