Total War: Warhammer 3 Unveils Exciting Updates: New Endgames and Vampire Counts Overhaul

Hey, Total War: Warhammer 3 fans! Big news has just rolled in from Creative Assembly’s latest livestream, where they spilled the beans on some exciting updates coming with version 9.0 and the Lords of the End Times DLC. If you’ve ever felt a bit let down by the ending of your Immortal Empires campaigns, you’re in for a treat!

First off, let’s talk about those new endgame scenarios. In the past, Immortal Empires campaigns ended with pretty standard crises, but it turns out those weren’t quite hitting the mark. Associate design director Sean Macdonald noted that these events are getting a makeover. Instead of just spawning extra armies, the new endgame events will cap off your campaigns dramatically, shifting most crises to the mid-game to enhance faction power.

Three thrilling endgames are in the pipeline. One reimagines the Vermintide crisis, another draws inspiration from Nagash (who will be part of the upcoming DLC), and the third, which CA highlighted during the livestream, revolves around Archaon, the ultimate Chaos champion! Each of these scenarios will kick off with a cinematic and some juicy campaign mechanics details.

Speaking of Archaon, he’s not to be trifled with. He boasts an impressive ward save that makes him nearly invincible until you take down his lieutenants. Plus, he has the ability to ravage provinces, making recovery a challenge for anyone trying to reclaim their territories. Oh, and if you’re playing as Archaon, you can choose to embrace the role of the endgame crisis yourself, transforming into a force that grows stronger as you destroy provinces!

Now, about those victory conditions—get ready for a shake-up in update 9.0! Each legendary lord will now have their own unique objectives, which could involve leveling up certain units, forming alliances, or constructing iconic landmarks. It’s all about personalizing your victory journey!

And for all you fans of the undead, rejoice! The Vampire Counts are getting a well-deserved rework. These bloodsuckers have been pretty stagnant since The Grim and the Grave DLC a decade ago, but that’s about to change. The recruitment system is being revamped; for instance, you’ll be able to replace fallen troops based on casualties from battles. Plus, finding powerful Vampires will require some exploration, as you’ll need to discover their lairs within settlements to recruit them!

In addition to all this, you’ll be able to turn Vlad and Isabella von Carstein into legendary lords if you start a campaign where one begins as a hero. That’s a pretty sweet upgrade for those who love the lore!

To wrap it up, CA also teased a new legendary lord coming with the Lords of the End Times DLC. Alongside Nagash and Boris Todbringer, we’re getting the Glottkin, a trio of grotesquely mutated brothers from Nurgle. Not only will they feature in the Warriors of Chaos faction, but they’ll also have access to Nurgle’s daemons and brand new units like the Putrid Blightkings and the Chaos Siege Giant.

One more legendary lord is still under wraps, and fans are buzzing with speculation about Thanquol, the notorious Skaven Grey Seer known for his comical failures. If it’s not him, let’s hope somebody checks in on those who’ve been eagerly waiting for over 200 days!
