Asus's New OLED Monitor: Progress & Ponderings
0
Heads up, everyone, some interesting monitor news coming out of Computex about the rapidly evolving OLED space. Asus has unveiled a new 32-inch 4K OLED gaming monitor, the ROG Swift PG32UCWM, which features a never-before-seen LG WOLED panel with true RGB-stripe subpixels. This RGB-stripe setup is a big deal as it means a much more conventional and cleaner image than previous OLED gaming monitors, alongside its 240Hz refresh rate at 4K. However, it seems to fall a bit short on brightness, only reaching DisplayHDR True Black 400 compared to newer panels already available or announced with 500 or 600 certifications. It's a bit of a mixed bag; while RGB-stripe is fantastic, this specific model feels slightly behind the curve brightness-wise even at launch. Still, the rapid pace of OLED development, especially with RGB-stripe becoming standard, is incredibly exciting for the future of gaming displays.
