Frontier Teases Exciting New Management Sim: A Fresh Spin on the Planet Franchise!

Hey gamers! If you’re into management sims like I am, then you’re probably familiar with Frontier’s awesome titles like Planet Zoo and Planet Coaster. But guess what? They’re about to shake things up with a brand new addition to the Planet franchise that’s not about zoos or rollercoasters!

Frontier’s head of player engagement, Richard Stephenson, recently dropped some juicy details on Discord, revealing that they’re working on a fresh management sim that promises to keep the charm fans love while introducing a brand-new setting. He hinted at the blend of creativity, management, and engaging simulation that fans have come to adore.

As you can imagine, this announcement has set off a storm of speculation among the Planet franchise fans. Some of the hottest guesses floating around include titles like Planet Resort, where you could manage a chain of hotels, and Planet Festival, where you’d be in charge of epic concerts. There’s even buzz about Planet City, a city-building sim that could rival classics like SimCity and Cities: Skylines.

Now, in a recent trademark filing, Frontier listed several intriguing titles. While Planet City wasn’t included, both Planet Resort and Planet Festival made the cut. Also on the list were names like Planet Farm, Planet Vacation, Planet Dinosaur, Planet Prehistoric, Planet Fantasy, Planet Mythical Creatures, and Planet Dragon. It’s likely some of these are just precautionary measures to block competition. After all, Frontier is already knee-deep in the world of dinosaurs with their Jurassic World Evolution series.

There’s speculation that Planet Resort might be the frontrunner, given its thematic proximity to the existing games in the franchise. Personally, I think a game titled Planet Fantasy sounds super cool, but it might come with a bit too much complexity for a typical Frontier management experience.

As for when we might get our hands on this new title, don’t hold your breath just yet. With Planet Zoo 2 set to release soon and the time gap between previous titles, we might have to wait until at least 2028 to dive into this exciting new world. So, let’s keep our eyes peeled for more updates from Frontier in the coming months!
