From Stealth to Strategy: My Journey in Dishonored 2

Ah, Dishonored 2—a game that’s as much about stealth as it is about strategy. Reflecting on my first foray into this universe, it was less of a stealthy glide through the shadows and more like a chaotic rampage through Dunwall. Back then, I had zero clue that slashing my way through enemies would land me smack in the High Chaos ending, a fate I never wanted. As I progressed through those early levels, I realized my blood-soaked path had awakened a horde of hungry rats that seemed to be enjoying their feast a bit too much.

By the end of my initial playthrough, I felt like Corvo could’ve been crowned the King of Rats—his citizens, unfortunately, reduced to nothing more than food for the ravenous vermin. Let’s just say, I learned the hard way that there’s a price for chaos, and it makes Corvo feel sluggish and miserable when he has to hop into rat bodies that have had their fill of decay.

Fast forward to Dishonored 2, and I got a fresh shot at redemption. Fueled by a mix of determination and a touch of madness, I set out on a mission: a perfect run with no kills and zero detection. This was no small feat for someone who, in another game, ended up taking out half of Prague in a fit of violence. After a staggering 40 hours of tense gameplay, I finally pulled it off, but trust me, it wasn’t easy.

During the Clockwork Mansion mission, I was on the verge of losing it. Picture this: five hours of quick-saves and resets, and there I was, ready to blow Kirin Jindosh away. Instead, I chose a more poetic revenge—strapping him to his own electric chair. That felt like the best way to deal with the guy who had mocked my intelligence throughout the mission.

But just when I thought I could relax, I stumbled upon Jindosh’s infamous puzzle: the Jindosh Lock. This door, sealed tight, could only be opened by solving a riddle. Sure, I could’ve asked the local gangsters for help, but where’s the fun in that? So there I was, staring at it for what felt like ages. My monitor went to sleep before I cracked the code! It was an epic five-hour brain-buster that almost drove me insane.

Eventually, I decided to put my keyboard down and dig out my old gaming notebook—a relic from my days playing The Witness. Armed with pen and paper, I mapped out every variable in Jindosh’s twisted riddle. Finally, after a lot of trial and error, I had that satisfying “aha!” moment that made all the stress worth it. Let’s just say, starting with some good old-fashioned alcohol (both virtual and real!) helped me think outside the box. Who knew a bit of creativity could unlock everything?

So, that’s my wild ride through Dishonored 2. It’s a game that demands patience, skill, and maybe a dash of madness, but the rewards are oh-so-sweet when you pull off the impossible!
