2026 Gaming Highlights: The Catchy Soundtracks You Need to Hear

Can you believe we’re already seven months into 2026? Time really flies, doesn’t it? While the year might have felt a bit slow with all the ups and downs, including some major industry shake-ups, there’s still been a silver lining: amazing video games and their killer soundtracks!

Even though I’ve been lost in the nostalgia of Final Fantasy 14 and just discovered Project Zomboid, I’ve still managed to catch some of the new releases that have dropped this year. With five more months to go, let’s take a moment to appreciate some standout tracks that have left a mark on us so far!

First up, we have **Arcade – Screamer** from Milestone. This racing game brings a vibrant anime aesthetic to life, and its soundtrack is nothing short of exhilarating. The track that plays during Arcade mode is an absolute gem—an electrifying blend of rock and electronic that perfectly captures that classic 2000s anime feel.

Then there’s **Eatin’ Rats – Mewgenics**. I haven’t had the chance to dive into Mewgenics yet, but its soundtrack has already captivated me. This quirky tune features hilariously catchy lyrics like “Tasty legs and crispy thighs,” which paints a vivid picture of a band of cats on the prowl. It’s pure fun!

Next, we have **Lone Wolf – Crimson Desert**. While the soundtrack of Crimson Desert has been critiqued for being a bit bland, I really enjoy the atmospheric feel of Lone Wolf, particularly as you enter the expansive world of Pywel. The gentle choir and moody undertones create a hauntingly beautiful soundscape.

**Club Arch DJ Set – 007 First Light** is another gem worth mentioning. Though I haven’t played the game yet, I couldn’t resist checking out the virtual DJ set by Chase & Status. It’s a nostalgic blast that reminds me of late nights out after a few too many drinks—pure British vibes!

For fans of emotional storytelling, **Blood Moon – Life is Strange Reunion** is a must-listen. The blend of licensed music and original scores in this game has been incredible, and Blood Moon stands out with its haunting vocals that fit perfectly into the game’s narrative.

**Inner Child – Paralives** is another track that has caught my attention. It instantly reminded me of the vibes from The Sims 2, with its playful and whimsical melody. It’s impressive how this track can evoke such strong memories without directly copying the original.

If you’re a fan of ethereal sounds, you’ll love **In Death We’ve Just Begun – Marathon**. Featuring the incredible Poppy, this track from the game’s opening cinematic combines haunting melodies with melancholic undertones, making it perfect for those quiet evenings when you just want to chill.

Then we have **Cryogenic – In Falsus**. This demo from a rhythm game is an absolute banger with dreamy vocals and an infectious electronic beat. It’s so good that you’ll hear it popping up in other rhythm games—definitely a track that’s making waves!

Lastly, **Under the Lights – People of Note** has me excited to dive into this game. This track is a delightful musical moment that makes you feel like you’re in a movie, and I can’t wait to experience the full soundtrack as I play through it.

So, there you have it! These tracks have certainly made an impression this year. If you have your favorites from 2026, don’t hesitate to share which soundtracks have been on your playlist. Happy gaming!
