Ill: A New Level of Gore in Survival Horror Set for 2027 Release!

In a jaw-dropping reveal at the recent Sony State of Play showcase, gamers were treated to a trailer that’s bound to leave a mark – and not just from the scares! The upcoming survival horror game, Ill, set for a 2027 launch, has taken the concept of ultraviolence to dizzying new heights. If you thought you’d seen it all, think again!

This trailer showcased a shocking array of gruesome acts that would make even the toughest horror fan wince. Picture this: we’re talking about eye sockets being gouged out, close-range skull shots resulting in explosive carnage, and even a baby zombie getting its head pulverized. Yes, you read that right! Not to mention the neck slashes, repeated stabbings, and a severed head casually pinned to a wall. The brutality doesn’t stop there—there’s leg dismemberment and a door kicked down as well. Oh, and let’s not forget the naked guy lurking around, ready to pounce!

The whole shebang unfolds in a grotesque hospital setting, or as the game’s Steam page calls it, a “huge research fort” corrupted by a sinister force that gives rise to “horrific Aberrations.” So, that zombie baby? Totally not a living human anymore, so smashing its face to bits is apparently justifiable!

Developed by Team Clout, this game is backed by veterans from the film industry who have worked on projects like Longlegs and the adaptation of Until Dawn. The trailer seemed to flaunt Team Clout’s “advanced physics interactions” and an “advanced dismemberment system.” It’s a tactic that horror studios have been using for years, and the most recent example of this might be The Callisto Protocol.

While some of the visuals were undeniably impressive—especially in the context of gore—the overall setting felt pretty standard fare for the horror genre, replete with creepy underground labs and familiar gameplay elements found across first-person and third-person survival horror titles. We’ll have to wait until 2027 to see if Team Clout can deliver more than just gruesome visuals and actually bring some innovation to the table!
