Green Lanterns Set to Soar Beyond Earthly Mysteries

The upcoming series, Lanterns, is gearing up to take us on a unique adventure featuring two Green Lanterns. Initially, it looks like fans can expect a more down-to-earth narrative rather than diving straight into the expansive universe of Green Lantern lore. Showrunner Chris Mundy shared that the choice to focus on a gritty murder mystery set in Nebraska was made early on in the development process.

Mundy explained, “We just committed pretty early. It wasn’t a matter of debating how to approach it; we decided on this style right from the start.” The aim is to firmly establish the characters and their relationships before expanding into the broader cosmos.

This strategy has already begun to resonate with viewers, especially with the latest trailer released during San Diego Comic-Con weekend. The sneak peek showcased some creative uses of the Lantern ring and hinted at the presence of the notorious Sinestro, hinting at a mix of grounded storytelling and possible cosmic entanglements.

The series will spotlight John Stewart, a newcomer to the Green Lantern ranks, as he learns the ropes from veteran Hal Jordan while they investigate a string of mysterious murders.
